Killamarsh Skatepark official opening – you’re invited!

Killamarsh Skatepark officially opens on 15 June, with a day of FREE fast-moving fun for the family.

The Extreme Wheels Roadshow will be in attendance at the Killamarsh Skatepark Jam and Official Opening event, with demonstrations from pro BMX and scooter riders.

There will also be competitions, giveaways and prizes, together with music and free riding.

North East Derbyshire District Council Cabinet Member for Health and Leisure, Cllr Kathy Rouse, said: “We can’t wait to welcome everyone to the official opening of the skatepark.

“If you enjoy skating or riding, or know someone who does, this is one event you won’t want to miss!”

The park has been completely transformed, thanks to £190k of Safer Streets funding and UK Shared Prosperity Funding.

Some of the new, exciting features of the skatepark include: Long quarter pipe with tombstone, grind box and manual pad. A 5ft spine and jump box, rhythm section and a 6 ½ ft half pipe with hip quarter pipes.

Derbyshire Police and Crime Commissioner Nicolle Ndiweni, said: “This new Skatepark will bring hours of enjoyment to young people in the local community. Sport is a great way to bring people together and also helps to prevent problems such as anti-social behaviour.

“I hope everyone has a great day as well lots of fun over the coming months. I’m looking forward to seeing everyone.”

The skatepark’s official opening, takes place from 11am-4pm on 15 June and is FREE to attend!

The skatepark itself is open to competent riders only, aged 9+

Bring your own scooter, BMX, skateboard and roller blades. Helmets are also a must.
