Through our Community Action Grants Scheme, we help local communities tackle issues that matter to them and that support priorities in the Council Plan.

Last year, Holmesfield Village Society were successful in applying for a Community Action Grant and received £500 to put on a Coronation Big Lunch community event to celebrate the King’s Coronation.

The event, which took place at Holmesfield Village Hall, included competitions, a singer, a raffle and of course a fabulous cake and was attended by over 70 people and 8 volunteers. The items covered by the grant included bunting, a balloon arch, a King Charles cardboard cut-out, flags, tablecloths and Coronation mugs. The main aims of the groups were to boost community spirit and improve wellbeing.

Alison Taylor, Treasurer for the group says, “We wish to thank North East Derbyshire District Council as the Community Action Grant helped to fund decorations in the village hall which made the event extra special.”
