The Working Communities Project

The Council run a free, voluntary and confidential support service which is offered to all residents in the District. We provide advice, guidance and resources tailored to anyone leaving the Armed Forces to help you back into the workplace. Working together on a one-to-one basis, you and your advisor will create a realistic plan to help you find employment. Some of the things we can help you with are: searching for a job, preparing your CV, filling in application forms, interview techniques and advice about benefits. If there is something we are unable to help you with, we can put you in touch with the right people for support.

Employment at NEDDC

Service in Non-Regular Forces (Reservists)

Employees are entitled to up to 2 weeks to attend summer camp as a volunteer member of the non-regular forces. This will comprise five days paid leave and five days paid leave taken from an employee’s annual leave entitlement, as the Council’s basic annual leave provision awarded to employees is well above the statutory minimum entitlement of twenty three days annual leave, plus an additional three days after five years’ service.

DWP Armed Forces Champion for Derbyshire

Support is available for ex-services personnel with Employment, Training, Housing, Health, Mental health and much more. DWP also has possible funding available to retrain or purchase licenses and certificates when ready to go into a new job.

  • Great Place to Work for Veterans is an initiative that aims to encourage more veterans to work for the Civil Service.
