Eckington

Eckington is located in the north of North East Derbyshire’s District close to the border with Sheffield and is two miles west of Killamarsh. It has a population of approximately 11,800 and the town acts as a service centre for the surrounding area with a rural catchment of around 125,000 within 3 miles.

Eckington also acts as a service centre to both Chesterfield and Sheffield and similarly to other surrounding areas.

North East Derbyshire District Council, in partnership with Eckington Parish Council and Derbyshire County Council, commissioned the Eckington Town Centre and Town Park Masterplan, produced in July 2022. This was written to support financial and economic business developments for the Town, to provide guidance on the future delivery strategy for regeneration of the town centre and to build on the character and existing positive amenities already in place.
