If you carry out acupuncture, cosmetic piercing (body and ear piercing), permanent tattooing, semi- permanent skin colouring (micro pigmentation - e.g. tattooed eyebrows or lips) or electrolysis, you must register with us. This regulation exists to ensure that you meet the relevant health and safety standards and lessen the risk of infection. To register as a practitioner or to register a premises where these activities are to take place as part of a business, complete our online application form at https://www.gov.uk/skin-piercing-and-tattooing
Registration Fees
The cost of registering:
- premises: £76.50
- an individual licence: £76.50
It is illegal to conduct body piercing, tattooing, acupuncture or electrolysis until the registration has been formally approved.
